Awake Anesthesia
Dr. Modkovich performs breast surgeries under local anesthesia without sedation to keep the patient awake and comfortable. We inject lidocaine or other local anesthetic to numb the treated area. It blocks pain signals during the operation while allowing the patient to remain conscious.
Incisions
Dr. Mordkovich uses one of the three incision techniques based on the patient’s anatomy and goals:
Inframammary: an opening is made underneath the breast in the fold. This allows direct access to create the implant pocket.
Periareolar: an incision is placed along the edge of the areola. This technique provides greater control over implant positioning. The scars are almost invisible because they are hidden in the pigmented area of the areola.
Implant Pocket Creation
The implant pocket is created above or below the pectoral muscle. The subglandular technique positions the pocket between the breast tissue and the muscle, which provides more upper breast fullness. The submuscular method puts the pocket underneath the pectoral muscle so the edges of the implant are less visible.
