MANY OPTIONS, MANY USES
Juvederm is a diverse brand of dermal fillers that offers a broad range of benefits, depending on the formulation used. This class of hyaluronic acid dermal filler is known for its smooth quality that gives you natural, beautiful results. Patients love this anti-aging option because it not only smooths wrinkles but restores youthful volume and enhances particular facial features at the same time. Our team offers a variety of Juvederm products, allowing us to tailor your injectable treatment to your precise aesthetic concerns and your desired improvements.
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR THE SKIN?
Our bodies produce hyaluronic acid to assist the skin in retaining hydration and producing a smooth, supple appearance. In our younger years, we have an ample hyaluronic acid supply to keep our skin looking and feeling its best. As we get older, we make less hyaluronic acid, so we need to find a way of replenishing this product to benefit the underlying dermal layers as well as the surface of the skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers are a perfect fit since our bodies recognize the ingredient and will not react negatively to the formulations.
OPTIONS IN JUVEDERM TREATMENTS
All of the Juvederm products contain hyaluronic acid, but subtle differences in the formulations allow us to use different products to customize your treatment to your needs. Here is a rundown of the current options in Juvederm fillers:
- Juvederm Vollure XC is the newcomer to the Juvederm line, designed to fill in deep-set wrinkles around the mouth including marionette lines that run from the mouth to the jawline and creases that form between the nose and mouth known as nasolabial folds. This injectable is versatile and gentle on the skin, while sufficiently stable to address even deeper facial creases. This is also the longest-lasting Juvederm filler, with results that persist for up to 18 months after your injections.
- Juvederm XC is the filler of choice to reduce mild to moderate nasolabial folds and marionette lines with a lighter formulation than Vollure. Results from Juvederm XC typically last about one year before you will require a subsequent treatment to maintain your positive results.
- Juvederm Volbella XC tends to be the first choice for patients wanting to add youthful volume to aging lips or plump up a pucker that has never been sufficiently full. The smooth formulation also helps to smooth out perioral lines, which are the fine lines above the upper lip that are often referred to as lipstick or smoker’s lines. Your enhanced lips should last between 12 and 18 months before another round of injections is needed.
- Juvederm Voluma XC is the first filler approved by the FDA to lift and augment the natural shape of your cheeks. This filler is a bit different than the other Juvederm products because it is made of a denser formula to restore youthful volume and definition to the midface. Some studies have shown Voluma XC results may last up to two years, although the duration of the procedure can vary somewhat from patient to patient.
NO DOWNTIME, LONG-LASTING RESULTS
There is no recovery time after Juvederm treatments, and most patients find they can return to their schedule without any telltale signs they just had a cosmetic procedure performed. Some individuals may experience mild bruising or swelling around the injection sites, but these side effects are rare and subside within a few hours. There is no pain after the injections to prevent you from your usual tasks.
Results from Juvederm injections are apparent right away, but will likely improve in the days following your treatment as the formulation spreads and diffuses across the treatment area. Those results will last for many months, depending on the product used, the treatment area and the way you respond to the filler. Over time, the hyaluronic acid in the mix will be reabsorbed by the body, and you will need additional injections to maintain your fuller, more youthful appearance.
