The blepharoplasty procedure is done as an outpatient procedure and only requires local anesthesia injected into the skin and muscle around the eyes. Local numbing is much safer for you than general anesthesia and can allow you to heal more quickly after your surgery. As the upper eyelids have natural creases within the skin, incisions are tucked into these lines. Incisions for the lower lid are carefully hidden within the lash line.
Dr. Mordkovich removes the extra, loose skin and protruding fat cells while tightening the muscles to produce a smoother surface to the lid. Once the interior of the eyelid is appropriately restructured, he will close the incisions with dissolvable sutures.
